Solar Powered Remote Controlled. Multipurpose Grass/Paddy Cutting machine

Object Required:

Machine which can be work on solar and operated over the distance using Remote controlled. To incorporate blade height adjustment system which can be used to maintain the specific height of the grass.

Principle:

As manual grass cutting machines are very hectic to operate and electric mowers are subject to availability of electricity. This project demonstrates the concept of automatic grass cutting machine which can be operated using the remote control Grass cutting is achieved by D.C motor which provides the required torque needed to drive the cutting blade which is coupled to the shaft of the D.C motor. The grass cutter is operated wireless from a distance using remote control. The remote is also used to control the direction of travel of the machine and control its navigation. Further the process also involves adding of an adjustable blade height which makes it more feasible to cut grass at different heights so that a proper height of the grass can be maintained. The Machine is also incorporated with the paddy cutting mechanisms to make the machine more versatile.

Theory:

India is a land of agriculture and on day today basis grass and lawns are available overall. To maintain grass quantity and

quality as per agriculture and daily perform activity Manual or Grass Cutter M/C are available. Currently available grass cutter’s in market are either electrically operated which have limited cord length hence not portable or engine operated which have higher costs of operation. This project involves design and fabrication of eco-friendly Solar powered grass cutting machine which can be used to cut the grass.

This machine runs on electric power and can be controlled from a distance using a remote.  The machine is equipped with a Solar panel which Charges the onboard battery of machine using solar energy and supplies to the electric motor of the machine. Thus this simplifies the grass cutting operation which compared to manual grass cutting operations and is portable because it uses solar energy. Further the mechanism to adjust the blade height is provided which helps us to maintain the grass at specific height while cutting it. The developed machine is also equipped with a tank which can store insecticides and can be used in the garden for spraying operations.

INTRODUCTION

In general, grasses are found to survive a variety of conditions and thus the need to curtail their growth in order to enhance the beauty of our habitat environment. As man evolved intellectually, grass cutting inevitably developed to an art. As technology advanced grass cutting developed.Technology had continued to advance and better techniques of grass cutting has been invented and constantly improved upon. This gave birth to the invention of lawn mower. A lawn mower is a machine used for cutting grass or lawns. A lawn is any area of grass; mostly tough grass which is neatly cut like in a private garden or a public park.
Before the advent of technology in the field of agriculture, the grass cutting was carried out by using hand equipment’s. The first tool ever used to cut grass to a more desirable length was the scythe. The scythe has a simplistic design, containing a long wooden handle with a curved blade attached perpendicularly to the end. Until the 19th century, the scythe was the only option for cutting grass, which proved to be a long tedious process. This would also require lot of human efforts and thus was a long process.

Then with the advent of technology more sophisticated machines were introduced in market which was designed specifically for the purpose of grass cutting. These were called as lawnmowers.The grass cutters available in market are manually operated, electrically operated or operated by IC engines. The electric operated grass cutter has limited moving range and cannot be operated in remote areas where the electric supply is not available. On the other hand the IC engine powered mowers have good power but are noisy and require fuel to burn. They also promote noise and air pollution. Also, a motor powered engine requires periodic maintenance such as changing the engine oil.
1. A grass cutting machine which was able operate at the speed of 2km/hr without disturbance in operation. The effective capacity of the machine was .07 ha/hr. This machine was cost effective as compared to present machines.

2.Solar Grass Cutter With Linear Blades By Using Scotch Yoke Mechanism.Due to this changes to the existing machines to improve its efficiency. Their main aim in pollution control is attained through this. Unskilled operation can operate easily and maintain the lawn very fine and uniform surface look. In this project, ―Solar grass cutter‖ is used to cut the different grasses for the different application. This machine implemented a separate concept using scotch and Yoke mechanism .

3.The device consists of linear blade which is operated with the help of the motor the power supply for the motor is by using battery. The battery can be charge by using power supply and solar panel. In case of any obstacles in the path it is sensed by using an IR sensor. If there is any variation then the device using free direction sensor and find the new path to travel. The above feature is enabled so that the damage to the hardware of the device is avoided. In future the automation of the device will play a vital role in world wide.

Conclusion:

Though there as many grass cutters available in the market, they still have many drawbacks. The major ones is the requirement of fuel, pollution of gasoline grass cutters and unavailability of electricity in remote areas if it is the case of electrically operated grass cutters. This creates the need to develop an efficient grass cutter which will eliminate the problems associated with grass cutting and work optimum efficiency. Thus keeping into considerations the drawbacks of current systems. This project focuses on the design and development of remote controlled solar grass cutting machine which is easy and friendly operation of grass cutting.   Grass cutting is achieved by the D.C motor which provides the required torque needed to drive the cutting blade which is coupled to the shaft of the D.C motor. The grass cutter is operated wireless from a distance using remote control. The remote is also used to control the direction of travel of the machine and control its navigation.
